Apparently there are a lot of different definitions on the question what is
a robot?
In
manufacturing a robot is a reprogrammable, multifunctional manipulator designed
to move material, tools parts or specialized devices through variable
programmed motions for the performance of a variety of tasks. Nowadays human
beings define robot as any anthropomorphic mechanical being build to do routine
manual work for them, or any mechanical device operated automatically,
especially by remote control to perform in a similar way with human beings. The
word robot came from the Czech word robota, which means slave.
Major
Differences between Humans and Robots:
- Humans are free to think and act, Robots can only obey commands.
- Humans have emotions and feelings, Robots don’t.
- Humans are made of flesh, liquids(blood, water etc.), organs, nerves, muscles and bones. Robots are made of different types of metals and a mixture of other various elements.
- Humans need oxygen, food, water, clothes and more to survive. Robots only need to be fixed if a mechanical part is broken.
- Humans need sleep and rest to survive and function. Robots can repeat the same process without getting tired or sleep.
- Humans cannot survive under high temperatures or high radioactivity. Robots can survive.
- Humans can give life to a robot, Robots cannot give life to a human.
- Robots can become more accurate and act faster than humans in specific occasions (such as complex math calculations, automated jobs etc.)
The best way
a robot can be used nowadays is to aid people with an impairment that may be physical, cognitive, mental, sensory,
emotional, or some combination of these.
The worst way a robot can be used nowadays is for war.
